Yesterday, the Spain Ghana Chamber of Commerce held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and a networking cocktail event at The Labadi Beach Hotel. The General Meeting served as a medium for the Management and the Board to be accountable to members of the chamber by presenting the audited financial statement and activity reports for 2022.
The Ambassador of Spain to Ghana, H.E Javier Gutierrez, Honorary President of the Chamber, opened the event by addressing all those present. In his opening remarks, he touched on the partnership between the Embassy and Chamber. He commented that he is happy to see the excellent level of attendance and the increasing number of members, not only from Spain but also from Ghana, and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Ghana for students of the University to undertake internship programs with companies that are members of the SGCC. He appealed to members to participate in this initiative of adding efforts to enrich the UG student experience. He introduced the new Counsellor of the Economic and Commercial Office, Yann Emonet, to all members present as he has just recently taken up the post.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce, Joaquín Roura spoke about his confidence that member companies can leverage their collective strengths to transform the current economic challenges into opportunities. He reiterated that the chamber will continue actively promoting trade and investment opportunities, facilitating partnerships and providing a platform for knowledge exchange and networking.
The audited financial statement was presented by the Chamber’s auditors, Masaada Consultants and the activity report for 2022 was presented by the General Secretary of the chamber after which a thorough question and answer session was conducted to engage members to understand their particular needs and areas of interest.
