The Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Alicia Perez Del Pulgar has commended Ghana for securing the bid to host the secretariat of the Continental free trade area.
During a working visit to the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Kofi Adda, the Spanish Ambassador commended Ghana for heavily investing in the aviation sector as part of renewed efforts to make the Country an aviation hub.
The Spanish government has for decades had strong bilateral and economic relations with Ghana in the areas of solar energy and the setting up of air traffic control systems and a maintenance repair overhaul facility at the Kotoka International Airport.
The Spanish government is now exploring possible future partnerships in the training of Ghana’s aviation workers and re-establishment of direct flights from Spain to Ghana after the service was suspended over four years ago.
The visit by the Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, Alicia Perez Del Pulgar was to also thank the government of Ghana for being a long time trading partner to Spain and securing the bid to host the Secretariat of the continental free trade area.
The core mandate of the secretariat will be to implement a free trade agreement for AU member states to create the world’s largest free trade area which will eliminate tariffs and other trade barriers on goods and services.
Minister for Aviation Kofi Adda commended the Spanish government for providing technical support to Ghana in the areas of energy, construction and technology transfer.
He also commended the Ambassador for exhibiting a strong sense of leadership in the discharge of her duties.
